Most manufacturers and distributors take the necessary time to negotiate with their carrier base very competitive tariffs, reduce fuel & accessorial surcharges and build FAK ranges into their LTL shipping. As a result of these actions, significant cost is driven out of their supply chain. However, few companies take the necessary steps to audit all of their freight bills. It is an unrealistic expectation for any of us to believe that any carrier is billing correctly on every shipment. Carries do make mistakes on discounts, base rates, and accessorial charges. Carriers do issue duplicate billings. Carriers do fail to deliver within guaranteed service times. Pre-payment Audit
Before Aspen pays any of your freight bills, we offer our Pre-Audit services. Aspen will audit all shipments from all carriers, comparing your billed rates from the carriers against the tariffs in place for each carrier. Aspen’s automated auditing process (90% automated) is facilitated by industry leading software and managed by our experienced staff of auditing professionals. Post-payment Audit
For freight bills that have already been paid through other means outside of Aspen APS, we offer our Post-Audit services. Aspen APS will audit all paid carrier freight bills from actual paper invoices from the carrier, or from other historical documentation that contains all pertinent shipping information needed to perform the audit. As in the pre-audit process, Aspen will compare your billed charges from the carrier against the tariffs in place for each carrier. From the simplest tariff to the most complex, all charges will be verified and validated for accuracy. All overpayments to the carrier will be filed with the carrier on your behalf by Aspen APS and we will manage and monitor this process up to receiving the refund check from the carrier, which we will return to you, complete with tracking number.

Pre-Payment Service
We offer our Pre-Payment service for all freight bills to all carriers. Before Aspen APS issues you an invoice for your carrier payments, all carriers will be paid by Aspen APS on our behalf. ASPEN PAYS BEFORE YOU PAY.  It bears repeating, Aspen pays before you pay. With EVERY 3PL agreement that allows a third party to pay a manufacturer’s or distributor’s freight bills, comes the legal possibility of the manufacturer or distributor paying for a carrier’s service, twice. There is NO GUARANTEE a 3PL will pay the carriers as committed. If a 3PL does not pay the carrier, the carrier has the legal recourse to collect from the party that owns the freight. With Aspen APS’ pre-payment service, WE GUARANTEE this will never happen to our customers, as we will pay all freight bills to all carriers before we bill our customers for this service. Additionally, with timely payments to their carrier base, our customers enjoy the greatest opportunity for exceptional discounts from all carriers. All carrier payments may be viewed on line with our customer specific logins. 

Post-Payment Service
Our Post-Payment service guarantees carrier checks to be issued within 72 business hours of receiving carrier payments from our customers. ACH carrier payments can also be facilitated. For both our Pre-Payment and Post-Payment solutions, Aspen APS provides web based support tools to allow our customers and their carriers with direct access to their freight bill payment data. These on-line solutions allow either our customer or their carrier’s tools to check the payment status on freight bills, tools for resolving freight bill problems and the ability to view historical images of freight bill transactions.
